Bible Reading Plans for the New Year

If 2021 has taught us anything, it’s that life is constantly changing. Thankfully, in a world with many unknowns, our King has been made known. We can trust in the Unchanging Word.

A great way to engage our students with Truth in the coming year is through a Bible Reading Plan. Our team has compiled a list of our favorites and included a brief description of each. Be sure to download a copy to share with your students on social media.

Chronological Reading Plan

This plan is available on YouVersion - meaning you can create an accountability group within the app itself! Within this plan, students will engage with God’s Word in the order that researchers believe they occurred. Students will be challenged to spend time in the Scriptures six out of seven days each week.

5 Day Reading Plan

This printable plan is perfect for those who need some grace days planned into their week. The 5 Day Reading Plan leads students through both the Old and New Testament at the same time. It is perfect for students who are overwhelmed by the thought of reading seven days a week!

The Bible Project

Here is another awesome plan that is available on YouVersion. The Bible Project will take students through God’s Word in semi-chronological order over the course of the year. The best part?? This plan includes videos to help deepen student’s understanding of the various books of Scripture. Here is a printable overview of the plan.

New Testament Reading Plan

Some students may not feel ready to tackle the Old Testament. This plan is for them! Students are encouraged to spend time reading God’s Word five days a week. This plan also includes a weekly memory verse!

The Bible Recap

This plan is awesome! The Bible Recap takes students through a chronological study of Scripture. There are brief, corresponding Podcasts that are meant to be paired with each reading. When followed within the YouVersion app, this plan even incorporates the book summary videos created by The Bible Project (mentioned above). Each day’s reading ends by focusing on a “God shot” - encouraging students to search for the Lord in His Word.
